Friday Hops (2/3/12)

Follow Friday (#11)
Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

My favorite books have definitely a heroine that can speak her mind, is couragous where it be fighting or even with friends or school. I'm all for a hot love interest as long as there is growth in the relationship. I do not believe in love at first sight so reading about that makes me gag. I believe that relationships blossom like a seed, the more you water and the more sunlight and the more time you give, the larger and more beautiful it will bloom.

 TGIF (#10)

Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?

Cover's are a big thing. I definitely judge a book by a cover. Titles are another. I love paradox titles, long titles that flow and roll off the tongue, and titles that aren't simplistic one-worded but more of a complex one-word (ex. Divergent)

Love at first sight makes me gag too. It is so fake I can't stand it. Old follower.

I definitely agree with you on not liking love at first site. I always get frustrated when I see insta love in a book. It reads so much better when you can see it develop.

What a lovely blog design! And I think the same about the strong heroines and not insta love. Romance is always a plus! I also look the cover first. But now that you've said it, title is an important thing, too! At least when it comes to the book's first impression :)

Thanks for stopping by - always happy to return the visit.

I agree, a good cover can sell a book, but I find that with an e-reader I rarely see the cover beyond that initial purchase. That's where a clever title really works to grab my attention.

While I believe in love at first sight, as I cannot think of another way to describe how I felt when I met my husband for the first time, I've never read a book that quite captured it correctly. It does seem fake in books. But when I've attempted to explain the whole love at first sight thing to other people in regards to meeting my husband, I can't explain it. Perhaps that is why it doesn't seem right in books.
I do love strong female characters, too, though!

Great answer for your FF post - I love strong heroines too, having strength in yourself is super important! As for covers playing a huge part - I'm totally guilty on picking a book up just because of its cover!

Hi! I'm Izzy, and I'm stopping by for Follow Friday. I completely agree with you about the relationships. The best romances, in my opinion, come from when the characters have had a good foundation and experience a lot of growth, instead of making out five minutes after meeting.

I agree! Relationships that just come out of nowhere and forms within 5 seconds seems so unreal and it really doesn't' help with the believability of a story.

Happy Friday :)

I'm a new follower, I know it's Saturday, I'm just trying to catch up with all my Friday Follows--sometimes the work week just gets the better of me! For me: strong heroine that kicks ass and takes names! I'm over at

And P.S.: I'm gonna have to have to disagree with you. Unicorns are clearly superior! =)
