Waiting on Wednesday (53): Dove Arising & Royal Wedding

Dove Arising by Karen Bao
Series: Dove Chronicles #1
Publication Date: February 15, 2015
Phaet Theta has lived her whole life in a colony on the Moon. She’s barely spoken since her father died in an accident nine years ago. She cultivates the plants in Greenhouse 22, lets her best friend talk for her, and stays off the government’s radar.
Then her mother is arrested.
The only way to save her younger siblings from the degrading Shelter is by enlisting in the Militia, the faceless army that polices the Lunar bases and protects them from attacks by desperate Earth-dwellers. Training is brutal, but it’s where Phaet forms an uneasy but meaningful alliance with the preternaturally accomplished Wes, a fellow outsider.
Rank high, save her siblings, free her mom:  that’s the plan. Until Phaet’s logically ordered world begins to crumble...
Suspenseful, intelligent, and hauntingly prescient, Dove Arising stands on the shoulders of our greatest tales of the future to tell a story that is all too relevant today.
I am a huge geek when it comes to Sci-Fi books, so I think those who understand my obession with space know why my choice this week is Dove Arising. The cover is pretty out of this world, too.

Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
Series: Princess Diaries #11
Publication: Summer 2015
IROYAL WEDDING (William Morrow), Princess Diaries XI, Princess Mia’s planned nuptials to longtime love Michael Moscovitz are in jeopardy when the paparazzi uncover a startling secret: Mia has a long lost younger sister. Now a scheming politico is using the royal scandal to force Mia’s father from the throne, leaving Genovia without a monarch . . . unless Mia can prove to everyone—especially herself—that she’s finally fit to rule.
Okay, who remembers reading the Princess Diaries when they were younger and watching the lovely Anne Hathaway in the movie version?  It's been years since I heard about our beloved Mia, but Cabot is taking the old audience for a ride in this newest book.  I am thrilled about this the continuation of this story and highly recommend anyone who is interested in Cabot's style to read any of her books.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
